There’s nothing like feeling special.
When I opened the box of these three Kunde Estate wines for the KundeLive! twitter tasting Thursday, June 7th 5:30-6:30pm PacificTime, and slipped the seal apart on the folder to reveal a letter and materials, it made the wine seem super special–and me excited about the tasting. I eagerly read through to learn about the wines we’d be tasting.I already was looking forward to it.
The last one in fall was a blast, and once again fourth generation winegrowers Marcia and Jeff Kunde along with winemaker Zach Long will be online and on-camera ready to share insights about the wine and their sustainable practices.
First up, we (plus Que Syrah Sue) will be tasting the 2011 Magnolia Lane Sauvignon Blanc ($17), followed by the 2009 Red Dirt Red ($30) which is a blend of 30% Barbera, 26% Petite Sirah, 22% Syrah, 15% zinfandel, and 7% Sangiovese. Doesn’t that sound tasty? It’s all I can do to keep from opening it NOW! The tasting will conclude with the 2009 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($45).
Now we’re trying to figure out what to pair these wines with: goat cheese, olive oil and a baguette is a no-brainer for the sauvignon blanc. Sue has suggested homemade mini-pizzas, Ima Zinner thinks bolognese, and Annie AnyDay and I want a really nice steak to go with that Cabernet…
If you want to play along, you can watch the action on the Live Stream: http://www.kunde.com/kunde-live, on Twitter: @KundeEstate or check the Hashtag: #KundeLive. Of course, it would be more fun if you picked up a bottle or two of Kunde wine (you don’t have to drink what we’re tasting!) and share your questions and comments. You can find several selections of Kunde’s wines at your local grocery store or wine merchant.
Thanks to Ed Thralls for his part in organizing this, inviting us, and sending along the wine samples!
