Thich Nhat Hanh: No mud, no lotus.

146_simpleNo mud, no lotus, reminds Thich Nhat Hanh.

No mud no grapes.

No grapes no wine.

This week I’m participating in the #yourturnchallenge inspired by Seth Godin’s new book which I admit I have yet to read.

The idea is to blog every day for one week.

And not just blog BS, but something meaningful.

Something with mud in it. Something rich, maybe messy.

There are optional prompt connected with the #yourturnchallenge; today is Why are you doing the Your Turn Challenge?

I’m going to quote MLK for my answer:543991_10151213291998848_1286798309_n

Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve, said MLK.
You don’t have to have a college degree to serve.
don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve.

You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.

and to quote Jeff Goins:

  1. Blogging teaches you discipline.
  2. Blogging teaches you introspection.
  3. Blogging gives you a voice.

Blogging offers me all of this as well as an opportunity to serve. And by serve I mean tell stories about wine which I think is a gateway drug to caring about the planet, the climate, and the species we live here with.

No mud, no lotus is one of Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo’s  Weekly Wake-ups and is a detail from her Buddhist silk applique thangkas.

Read more about the #YourTurnChallenge. If you choose to join the #YourTurnChallenge, you can write about anything but preferably not anything too trivial. I’m going to try to write daily on at least two of my blogs. To go deeper, organizer Winnie Kao has offered these  Daily Questions which you can use for prompts. Or not.

Day 1 Mon. Jan. 19: Why are you doing the Your Turn Challenge?
Day 2 Tues. Jan. 20: Tell us about something that’s important to you.
Day 3 Weds. Jan 21: Tell us about something that you think should be improved.
Day 4 Thurs. Jan. 22: Teach us something that you do well.

Please Comment! I'd love to hear from you!
