“Pay attention. Find the blessing. It’s passing. Everything is a gift, and nothing lasts,” writes Erin Geesaman Rabke. While it feels like a dark shadow looms overhead, as Thanksgiving Day in the US draws to a close, many of us are full to the brim with food and wine and good times with friends and family. I am in my beloved Sierra Nevada mountains where we spent the day skiing on four feet of fresh snow under blue skies, then enjoyed Champagne and Zinfandel and a smoked ham dinner with friends and family.
While the past few weeks have challenged me, and that shadow is oppressive, and the future seems uncertain, the past year has offered me many riches in experience to be grateful for. Just over a year ago I was in Portugal (read more here). In March and April I traveled to San Francisco and Sonoma for wine events and tastings including a visit to Extradimensional (read more here). In April I found myself in Texas for the eclipse with the Frey family with lots of great wine and a stop to taste wine in Marfa Texas at Alta Marfa. May found me in Italy with one week in Tuscany, one week in Sicily and one week in Campania. So grateful to visit Italy three times in two years, and I am planning to return at least once in 2025, and I hope to get to South America as well.
This year, Sue and I have tasted many wonderful wines, and we have lots more in store, and for this we are so grateful.
And I’m grateful to you too dear reader! Thank you for joining me on this adventure!
